Default PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!! K-N Cold air intake

Hey Guys I have a 2004 Monte Carlo ss non -supercharged and I got a brand new K and N Cold air intake kit for a good deal so I was thanking bout installing it but my mechanic Told me not To Any Reasons Why ????? And Is It Ok For me to Install???

It's fine to install if you want it. I am not too fond of that intake. I had one, but it hardly shields any heat and my intake temps were really high.

They sound nice though.

Only two reasons I could think for him saying not to do it:
-it isn't all that good of a "cold" air intake. Like Chibi, I've got one on my gp gxp and IATs at low speeds and stopped are really awful
-when cleaning them, some people WAY over oil those filters. That oil can then get on the MAF and cause wacky readings / drive ability issues.


if you've alreasy got it, you may as well stick it on.

Do CAI & short rams work well for the 3.4 LS MC's? Thinking about putting one on my MC, but most are specifically for the 3.8. Would it still fit, or completely different?

Bump. Would K&N Air Filters like this: K&N 57-3045 Performance Air Intake System, 57 Series FIPK work on a 3.4L when specified for 3.8L?

No, you run a different style of MAF sensor and need a kit specific for a 3400.
