I put a drop in K&N filter in my '01 and noticed no difference in milage nor performance. Just quit buying filters.

I picked up a solid 2 mpg from my cold air intake on my L67. I got 22.5 before, and 24.5 after. am getting 25.3 currently. It has paid for itself almost 2x over! HP gains are hard to determine without a dyno or track time. MPG is figured by my trip computer. I would doubt a mpg increase, at least not much from a drop in filter. I'm hoping a u-bend delete pipe will also help milage.
My wife has a K&N CAI on her '99 silverado, and has seen little mpg improvement.

What kind of cold air intake? How much does it cost? it sounds very interesting.

I put a drop in K&N filter in my 06 3.5L, and noticed no significant gain in horsepower, but there was an improvement in fuel economy. I took the car to the track, and got roughly the same times as with the OEM filter. I think that if and when K&N finally decide to get off their butts and realize that there are tens of thousands of 3.5/3.9's out there who want a CAI, we might see some better gains. Keep your fingers crossed folks! oh and give the folks at K&N a little wake uppoke now and then too..lol

I put in a K&N cold air intake kit, about $260. It has I believe the smoothest intake tube on the market, plus the largest filter. That's why I chose K&N.

See, its funny, because I honestly think you notice a HUGE difference, in S/C cars, not naturally aspirated vehicles. I mean, I honestly got a LOT of more pickup, and it even FEELS more "seat of the pants" type of acceleration.

Wayne, back me up on this. You noticed not alot of improvement on your 01, non s/c, but did u notice anything on ur 04?

Maybe I'm hallucinating? =)

Yep! I also have put a drop in K&N in my last three Monte's. Never really left the stock filter in long enough to see if there was any improvement in mileage, but I'm sure if there was any, it would be insignificant. But it is nice not to have to buy replacement air filters, and hey, the K&N sticker on my airbox looks cool.

my thinking on mine was i didn't want to spend 60-80 bucks on a filter, when i could spend another 150 or 200 bucks and get the cold air intake
