Any vehicle 15 yrs and up is considered a "Classic". Regardless of Make or Model.... Someone needs to get there facts straight about what makes a vehicle a "Classic".
Everybody has there own idea. I know some people only consider first gens classic. But yes by the book any car 15 years or older is considered a classic and eligible for cheaper insurance etc.

A lot of the more strict car shows set their vehicle age mark at 25+ years, and (at least in Michigan) to qualify for a historic plate the vehicle has to be 26+ years old. That being said, I thought the consensus was around 25+ years to be considered a classic; that's what I've always gone by.

Yes....25 yrs old is a Historic vehicle!

He had a tough enuff time understanding what bench mark makes a true "Classic"....
I wasn't even going to attempt the info on a "Historic" Bench Mark.
Thanks Matt!

In my location, 25+ years and a car can get historical plates. We also have other plates known as "Collector" plates. To qualify, your car either has to be identified already in a book the state uses OR you must have information that justifies it as a collector car.

Some car labels people already get a feel they will be considered a "classic" and what is and is not a "classic" is such a gray spot. Personally, I consider any car 25+ years a classic. There are some cars I look at and see them as "future classics" (such as a Camaro and a Mustang is a safe bet that it will be a "future classic", but it's tough for me to look at something like a Cavalier and say it would be a "future classic").

Thinking about it, I think a "future classic" is best decided by what are the odds it will survive to make it 25+ years old and pile of crap (it would actually still be "presentable").

Just some opinions from my school of thought. Not saying they are right or wrong, just food for thought.

i recently had a slow leak on the cooling elbow of my 04 monte at 72k iles, probably started a bit earlier, keep refilling the fluid with distilled water but doing it once and awhile to every few days at the end was bad. car overheated once, hit boiling then jumped up, i pulled over and it topped at 230, bought the aluminum elbows and GM washers, car runs fine now.

lower elbow was the culprit, hard to see until i removed everything, then a nice dry dexcool streak. I was always afraid the elbow would blow and spray the coolant out. Sorry to hear, sucks GM has never had a recall, the Aluminum elbow was $6, labor took only 30 minutes.
