Default I'm a proud owner

I'm a proud owner of a 1988 ls monte carlo carbureted 350. I'm not the most car knowlegable but I'm learning. My mechanic and I are debating on throwing a 383 stroker instead of my 350. My question is what is the most effective /cost efective way for horsepwer . I dont want nitrous. Please suggestions welcome.

the stroker motors are great and reliabel way to get H/P/ and still ahve some drive ability.

Also they run on pump gas if you dont get to crazy.

Giggel gas can be added if ya want it but i have never cared for it it is pretty much Crack for cars.
never liked drugs that much LOL

Con grats on teh 88 monte. they are a nice styled car and you can do alot with them and make them a real nice driver or even a weekend toy.
Good luck

Also dont for get to get speed you need more then a bigger motor. Look in to gears and a good tranny or atleast a good shift kit in it. this will help give you some gains also

383 + Edelbrock Intake and 750 carb + Headers = Smiles

Add a hood scoop for better cold air induction.

most effective way for easiest stuff would be looking into getting a peformance intake and carb, also maybea cam...

the intake and carb are fairly easy mod's and will give you some hp

welcome to the site tony

Default Thanks

Thanks so much for the input and the welcome hopefully I will have some good pics soon. I have been thinking about putting a 4spd manual tranny (when my broke buns can afford it) and new intake and carb are in the plans, what do you guys think would be the best breather system that doesnt stick out of the hood? I want an effective sleeper. I dont need a drag car so any ideas on how to subtly shave weight as well?

For the sleeper look, you can just add the aftermarket intake and carb. You will also want to get an Edelbrock Air Cleaner to match... kinda looks like 2 chrome pizza pans with a bolt through the middle. I would recommend an K&N air filter for smooth breathing.

Here we go!! The hood would still close on this design. Best bet is to call Edelbrock and they can set you up in a few min.. My ex brother in law got his order through in about 20 min and fit perfectly.
