Ideas to upgrade horsepower?
I have 06 Monte Carlo LS v-6, 3.5. i was thinking about adding horsepower to it. I know some people say dont waste your time because its a v-6 but i think id like to mess around with it to see what i can do. Can anybody help me with ideas to add horsepower to my car? I was thinking about a chip but all i can find is ones for the SS version. Any ideas and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

no chips, they suck, get a CAI and do an upgrade to the exhaust and maybe get your computer reprogrammed!

Don't do a chip, they wont do a single thing for you. You can tune your PCM i believe overkill does them for the 3.5.
also you may be able to make a custom intake and exhaust, other than that there is not a whole lot you can do to your car, you could possibly do some ported intake manifolds, i believe they are the same as the G6, those can be found on 60degreev6.com

Ok thanks guys. I hope some of these will work. I only have a v-6 obviously because the gas prices are high and in this economy i got to be smart about it no matter how much i want a SS. But anybody else with ideas? Thanks again trewyn15 & monte carlo 3813!

whatever you do, don't do the superchips, they are garbage!!! you can get the computer (PCM) reprogrammed from overkill and keep your old computer (PCM) but you will be out the core charge that overkill charges you if you were going to send it back for them to sell to the next person. I think overall the cost would be around $300 or so, that is kinda the way I'm thinking of going because I still have a warranty on my car! I hope that helps with what you're looking for, see ya for now......

Yeah that helps. Thanks! This might be a dumb question but I'm just double checking my self. If I put a k&n air filter on it will give it horsepower I know from previous cars but is there a big difference I put a CAI on or a CAF. To me I feel like I still get the same power increased and it's cheaper but I could be wrong..
