Default Hub Bearings.....

I think it is my hub bearings... maybe I missed a big flashing pinned topic that syas "How to fix Hub bearings"...

But I just want to make usre. Not used to working on this car yet. If I stop hard, the traction light and ABS go off and the little message center says "Service Traction Soon" . That's rare though. Most of the time, it happens if I give it too much gas while trying to make a turn, of if I'm on the brakes while turning. The "Service Tracion System" and ABS and TRAC OFF lights all come on and stay on. When you turn the car of,f it all resets.

So I think that's hub bearings.... and what all is involved in changing thaT? Just pulling the brake rotor off and replacing it? Or is this one of those deals wehre I need to pull the shafts out of the transmission, draining the transmission fluid, and pop new bearings in that too?

Thanks guys!

Thanks.... I dont like just replacing one of something like that... I'd just assume go ahead and replace both and be done with ti... the other can't be too far behind it.

Are tehre any seals I need to buy? New wheel seal or anythin,g or am I thinking older cars only? So when I call NAPA I just need to ask for a pair of wheel seals? I didnt' read about anything like a seal anywho....

Did I say seal enough times there? I want to make sure I do'nt need a seal....

It could be the back bearing that throws the codes too though...

So do you really want to do 4 of them?

When you go to NAPA get either TIMKEN or ACDELCO brand wheel hub assemblies. The cheaper ones are known to go bad within 6 months.

They are completely sealed units, nothing you need to buy. Undo 3 bolts, unplug ABS harness, remove, reverse removal instructions.

GM recommends you replace the bolts too

I had extra bolts, and I'm glad I did because I was stripping one removing it...

YMMV

Yeah, I second having new bolts on hand. I rounded out the heads on 4 of the 6 when I replaced my front hubs. I probably could have gotten them back on, but they would never be coming out again...
