Default high ratio rockers

i have an 05 Monte LT 120k i just recently got a beater so i can stop driving the Monte every day. i want to do some work to it, make it a little more sporty. I have the zzp 2.5" down pipe. I want to do the high ratio rockers and a pcm. Does any one else have this combo? I have read about " bleed-out" does that mean oil leaking from the vales? is it alot? any imput is apreciated

if you go with rockers, go with a set of rollers, the modified rockers flex and deflect making them less effective. The rollers that are available do not flex and reduce friction, and they quiet down the valvetrain as well

Where can u buy those rollers from? I have a 04 ss Supercharged and just bought headers. Next step is rockers. Thinkin about goin wit the 1.9 rockers from zzp. What are the pros n cons wit these if any?

the 1.9's are great but some people get valve float issues with them, and 105# springs would remedy this, but they eat the timing chain faster than stock, when you have it tore down far enough to replace the timing chain with a double roller you may as well get a cam and not do rockers because you're right there. I went with yella terra 1.8's so there aren't any valve float issues and the car runs awesome

and by the way you can get the yella-terra's from intense-racing.com or ZZP, ZZP appears to be out of everything from 1.8 up so 1.7's are the biggest you can get there for a while, i got mine from intense about a year ago

As I understand, the '05 LT is a naturally aspirated 3800. You'll want more then just rockers to get the most out of the mods. If you talk to the guys on the Bonneville forums, mod #1 should be a port matched LIM.

I'd say the absolute basic formula for what you're doing:
- ZZP DP w/ High flow cat (which you got) and a PLOG
OR
- Headers (depends what your full intentions are)
then rockers, a throttle body that allows more air in, maybe a CAI

You need to make sure the air can both get in and flow out.

I'm right now running the following engine mods (if you go to my link in my signature to my web site, I have a lot more detail about what I have done with the Monte):
K&N Drop-In Air Filter
ZZPerformance 2.5" Downpipe w/ High Flow Cat
L67 Coil Packs
ZZPerformance ER Rockers
ZZPerformance HV3 High Velocity Intake Insert
ZZPerformance Power Log
Custom L67 Throttle Body
Port Matched Lower Intake with Aluminum Gaskets
Tuned PCM by Kelly Korbas with PCMforLess.com
Exhaust Resonator Delete

that's pretty darn close to what i ran n/a before i blew mine up from over revving to much and chewing the bearings up

I ran a Series 3 uim with TB adapter to an L67 TB
HV3
YT 1.8 RR's
SLP headers (-cat)
Corsa Catback
EGR delete
Evap delete
Autolite iridium 103's
aluminum fel-pro gasket matched l26 heads and l36 LIM
and a home-made intake
34# injectors
Self tuned on e85

it just seemed like the powerband was shifted so far up range, i couldn't do a burnout to save my life, but the thing would go crazy in the high rpm's (4000-6800 rpms )

I don't see ANY UPGRADED SPRINGS on that list, and you went up to 6800 RPMS??? You shouldn't go above 5900 on the stock valvetrain.

Build your own CAI/HAI don't buy the K&N it is WAY overpriced.

As far as the rockers go....

Stock modified 1.9s would be the cheapest and most effective way to go.

Don't get 105 springs get the L92/L76 springs...You can get them for cheap and they work well with 1.9 rockers. You will also need modified retainers and should change the valve seals while you are in there.

I wouldn't suggest setting your shift points at anywhere above 5800 with rockers because 1. I will shift closer to 6000 anyways and 2. you won't be making power up that far without a cam.
