Default Help With Engine Swap. (6th Gen)

Hey guys, so I just got my first car. It obviously being a 2001 Monte Carlo Ls. Now as you read, I need help with a swap, now maybe that was a little off. I don't need help with just the swap, but also which ls engine to get, what kind of mounts will I need (if any), and what is the process of doing something like this. Now before you guys judge, that I have no knowledge of this, as i should get a civic or something...well I don't have an excuse, I was given this car, so I'm making the best of it. Now for tools, tools will not be a problem as my uncle and dad work at a auto shop, and we are close to the owner. So I basically have an entire auto shop to my disposal, and also the help of mechanics. Now you're probably asking, why don't you just ask them, well where's the fun of someone else they're doing the work. I'd rather read and learn.
Thanks guys, I will be very grateful for any help!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the Monte!!
So, first of all, why do you need a swap? Did the car come without an engine, did it come with one that did not work, or are you just wanting something better right from the start?

Hi, thank you. And sorry if this isn't the right thread for this post. Anyways I just want something to do with the car while I'm doing driving classes. So I decided to do that.

Nothing...that I know of. But I was wondering if there are other Ls engines. Like if I got one out of a Tahoe. Or like an ls2. Or would this project be too hard. I've read somewhere it'd cost upwards of 20k, and I'd need a new frame, cut through the firewall. If that's true, then are how any other projects that'd be easier. Ex cam swap, new exhaust. Both of which I'd do anyways.

Ok I understand now, you wanna pull the 3400 engine out of your monte carlo ls and replace it with a "lsx" v8. Yea that's going to be a lot of custom fabrication to make work! Look into doing a 3800 engine swap with the supercharger (l67) that will be way easier!
