Exclamation Hard Shifting and Slipagage

Here it is in a nutshell....My Monte Carlo has its original transmission. i have a 2004 3.8 SS not super charged. I have over 270k on it. I have had my shift solenoid replaced and my trany flushed a couple times. i have a slight whiney noise also. When im going up a slight hill at times it feels as if im loosing power but my speed has not dropped any. Should i be looking around for a rebuilt transmission or s it something else within the transmission? No check engine lights at all have come on, she still gets up and no lagging or bogging. Just the shifting and slippage sometimes. Hopefully there will
b a non xpensive answer...i hope?

Id say its definately time for a rebuild... with that kinda mileage...with no rebuild..Id say you were very fortunate to get that kinda mileage out of the transmission....

Heres another thing you can do to be positive the transmission is worn out. Take it to a local Transmission shop and have it scanned...and see what it reads...
Maybe its something simple like a soft rebuild?

I would have to agree. At 270K, i'm shocked it has gone that long on the original tranny. It would definitely be time for a rebuild at this point. The slipping is usually the first sign of these trannies starting to go.

Pretty awesome you got 270K on the stock tranny though.

I was hoping you weren't gonna say that, UGH! Yea also would have to agree I was pretty lucky getting this many miles out of a stock tranny. The funny thing is that it's been doing this for about 8 or 9 months now. I had to have had a car made on a Tuesday or wednesday....lol

I forgot to add I have a light coating of something black on my tranny dipstick. Could this be the bands wearing out?
