The non-VVT version of the 3.5L was made before the VVT version of the 3.5L.

The non-VVT version was based pretty much exactly off the 3400 V6. The 3.5L VVT version was based off of the 3900 VVT V6 (which was produced off of the 3400 also, but produced before the VVT 3500 V6)

The only thing impossible about getting headers for the 3500 V6 would be the fact that nobody makes them...otherwise, its not impossible.

found out that milzy motorsports will make the headers for the model of engine they also said make sure what type of trany it is. what i mean if it is 4t65e type but i have to look up what type it is. milzy motorsports said they have a shift kit for the 4t65e i need to make sure i have a same type

Yes we all have the 4T65-E Tranny!

A lot of places have a shift kit for a 4t65. If you want 4t65 upgrade parts- look at ZZPerformance under the grand prix section in transmissions.

sweet there are a couple of things i would like to do to my monty. but i would like to keep it lookin stock exept for rims dual exaughst and have a little go with it to make some people say hmm it did what.

whats the difference between the 4t65-e and the 4t65-e hd besides the internals are different? are the bolt holes different for that transmission as well or is it the same?

MAMONTE 11-19-2009 05:43 PM

The internals of the HD are actually the same. Its the differentials that are different between the 4T65E, and 4T65E HD...The HD just has a beefier differential.

sorry for all the questions about the trans i am not use to a front wheel drive auto matic trans. i am use to a manel trans for front wheel drive and rear wheel drive trans. if it comes to a front wheel drive auto matic trans as well as a manuel trans i am cool it works in a funky shape.

www.tripleedgeperformance.com

You should get TONS of information about the 4t65e there.

As said above, they are 99% the same transmission. If you look on ZZP's site, they may still have the "HD upgrade kit" in the trans section- you'll see what the different main parts are. They bolt in the same because they use the same case.

The other two differences are the HD version comes with a larger torque converter (most people changing out converters go to the smaller size from the non-HD)- and the drive chain ratio is different- non HD is 3.29, HD is 2.93 - this is kindof like the "rear end ratio" for our trans.
