Umm what?

monte carlo 3831 11-15-2009 11:53 PM

from what you've said in the past, you have a 3.5 e85 vehicle, right, what is the problem???

monte carlo 3831 11-15-2009 11:55 PM

i don't believe the 3.9 was e85, maybe on another make or model, but not on the chevy 3.9. do you have a flexfuel sticker on the back of your car??

Wilco 11-16-2009 12:23 AM

If you had an impala/impala police package 08-09 with a 3.9, it came with the ffv option. MC's 3.5 06-07 came with it too.

acording to milzy motorsports and zzperformance. the 3.5l v6 came with two options a variable valve timing and a non vvt type of engine. the 3.9 they said is also a vvt thats what they said. i have a flex fuel model which is different injectors to run the different fuel which they are bigger. different program to run e85 and regular in the computer. also different knock sensor do to the e85 will make a car knock if that isnt changed. do to the higher burn rate. i dont know what they were saying is it the vvt or non vvt i was looking for parts to see if they will fit

These are the engines, by year and model, that came with the e85 options. It's going to cost some money to change your engine to take e85. Have you check to see e85 availability in your area? It would be messed up for you to change your car to e85 and end up with no gas station near you that carries ethanol fuel.

ALL of the 06-07 Monte Carlo's with the 3.5L V6 were the 3.5L 3500 V6 with VVT! The non-VVT version was in other GM cars like the G6, and minivans for a while.

monte07 11-16-2009 09:03 PM

so why did gm do that? so that makes it imposible for the 06-07 ro get headers for it then?

mrl390 11-16-2009 09:27 PM

Why would it be impossible to get headers? The only thing that determines if you can get headers is if someone actually makes them or not, not if your engine is VVT or E85 compatible. The headers would be vehicle specific anyway so just because they use a non VVT engine in the other cars, doesnt make it any less likely to get headers made for a 3.5 monte.
