Default Gen 3 or Gen 5 M90 SC, comments please?

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and would like to ask y'all for comments/experiences regarding the M90. I'm currently debating between the Gen 3 or 5 for a top swap and, even though I have done some searching, haven't found any thing regarding real world testing/experiences with either. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

gen 3 is just as good if you can get the inlet/outlet port out. gen 5 is not that cheap either. you probably be looking to spend about $500 just for the blower. lower intake probably cost another $100. i have ported gen 3 with 96 N* tb setup

Do you want better performance or not? If you bought a gen 3 m90- would you ever consider having it ported for more power? If so, then add the price of a full p&p from one of the major vendors to whatever price you find gen 3 m90s for, and compare that to a gen 5. For the gen 5, keep in mind that you can't use the electronic tb that comes with them, so you'll at least need an adaptor and an L67 TB- or better yet a N*/LS1 TB- so add that to the price of the gen 5 for comparison purposes.

If you just want it done as cheap as possible- the gen 3 will be the way to go for sure.

The Gen 3 is sounding better by the minute. Having the Gen3 ported was another option I looked at and would more likely go that route. (Price wise it's the better option) I've read a few articles about the Gen5 that made it more attractive but the difference in price, for me anyway, it's just to much.

I've checked around some more and found the ZZP kit, which keeps original heads, and the Milzy kit, which does not port the intake manifold to the gasket but changes the heads for L67 1's. I guess I could do the porting, have done it before, so that's no biggie. Does anyone know of any other kits available, which won't cost too much? (besides the ones I already mention)

forget the zzp kit- its way overpriced and not worth it

milzy's $1400 is insane

wbodystore has a setup also, but I don't think its too much cheaper than milzy

really, you need to forget about buying a 'kit', go on clubgp and pick up the parts yourself. Cheapest I've seen people get all the hardware for was $350- I mean heck, a lot of the swap parts go for nearly free + shipping, the only valuable parts are the heads, LIM, and blower. Sure it may take longer to source the parts, but in the end, its way cheaper.

Well, I got a lot of reading to do. That last link is very informative. I'll take my time reading it. Btw, the used part suggestion came pretty handy as well. I've found many around my area (Lawton, OK) and will be doing a lot of inquiring come Monday.
