Question Fuel pump/ fuel line question?

Ok guys i am so close to starting my Monte with its new engine but I have hit a snag. Its a 1986 Monte SS, the engine is out of a 1990 Suburban just a nice little 350. When i finished assembling the engine I realized i hadn't accounted for one thing, The mechanical fuel pump. Well being that this engine is a newer model it didn't have the hole in the side for the mechanical fuel pump. well rather than disassemble the engine and start over by having the machine shop fix this issue i decided to just run an electric fuel pump. Well everything is in now and the engine is carbed with a rebuild Q-JET and headers aluminum intake and am package. My question is this, i already have the electric fuel pump mounted by the fuel tank and the lines run to feed the engine. I have heard i needed to ALSO RUN A RETURN LINE. I know how that hooks up and works on a mechanical pump but how would i go about this on an electric pump? I am hoping to start the engine this Sunday provided everything is ready. Any help o advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks or the info, decided on another route. Going to drop my fuel tank and install a fuel pump assembly for an 87 Monte 4.3. Then just regulate it up front before the carb. As for a return line I think the article you mentioned has gave me an idea on that!

Happy to help! I was jus check-in that article out a couple days before I read your post. Besides my '03 SC MC, and '97 GP...I have a '78 Malibu Wagon and '64 LaGoat (Lemans-GTO clone) that I still tinker with from time to time. So, I keep up on tech stuff for my ol skool carb'd cars.
