Default Engine Swap: Simplest engine

Okay so I have zero experience with engines. I have decided to completely get rid of the half complete engine I bought the car with, but I don't know what kind of engine I can put into it. I have a 1977 Monte Carlo, and I just want to watch her run again. I have little to no interest in making her a hotrod, so really I'm wondering what the simplest, most cost effective, and reliable engines to put into her would be.

Much appreciated opinions.

For simplicity good old fashion 350 small block. Best value.

You can pick up a used one pretty cheap or for reasonable $$ a crate engine new.

Then if you do feel the need for more HP they are cheap and easy to play with.

CHEVY 350 is the most common small block V8 and the aftermatket is insane and low cost.
