Engine swap

Engine swap
I have an 04' Monte LS 3.4 liter. I'm taking a GM 3800 series II L67 SC engine from a Grand Prix GTP and dropping it in my Monte. I've found that the Mounting should match up exactly the same ( correct me if I'm wrong ), but I'm not sure about everything. Im wondering if anyone knows what change will have to be made as far as the computer, and any wiring or maybe tranny? Any suggestions would be appreciated! and sorry if this thread has been posted before.

RE: Engine swap
Yea it's been posted, but here goes. Several differences between the 3.4 and the 3.8S/C cars. For starters, the S/C cars have the 4t65e-hd tranny instead of the problematic 4t60e. Also the axles are the larger HD units. The fuel pump is larger, as well as the fuel lines. Computer can probably be replaced easily enough. Wiring I believe would be the same.
If you can get the tranny, axles and engine as a unit, the rest should be a piece of cake. A cold air intake and the u-bend delete pipe are a MUST, also. A few easy mods, and that 240hp L67 can be well over 300hp.

RE: Engine swap
If you do have a 4t60- then for sure you will need both axles. If its a 4t65- you should be able to use your stock drivers side axle. Regardless you will need a passenger side axle from an 04 ss s/c (not sure if a GP passenger axle will work or not).
As far as wiring, you need the engine bay wiring from a 6th gen monte with a 3800 (doesn't matter if its NA or SC)- that will make everything plug in. As for the pcm, you'll probably want to use one from an 04 ss sc, although maybe you can have yours reflashed to work?
It is a pretty easy deal though- 99% bolt in and plug in.
