Engine cleanser important?
At AdvancedAutoParts the other day and they were recommending this Seafoam engine cleaner stuff, it seems like a lot of 'em think it's the best product out there. My 2003 Monte SS has 62,000 miles, I ran the Seafoam through it once before, back at 58,000 miles or so, but I didn't notice a difference in gas mileage, performance, idling or anything. The bottle says to use every 2,000-5,000 miles for maximum protection and cleaning ability, I'm sure it's just a sales gimmick, but should I still continue to use this?

How did you use the seafoam?
Through the engine by way of a vacuum line? In your oil? or in your gastank? or all 3 like you are supposed to.
If you do all 3, it's good to do it like every 30,000 miles or every other year.

I just do it through the vac line and through the gas tank- but IMO, every oil change sounds excessive to me to. I've been doing it about every 10-15k.
I love the crazy smoke on my GP w/ no cat, you get some pretty heavy smoke out of the tailpipe Nothing was as good as the first time though....

SeaFoam fed into your engine via a vacuum line is an awesome way to clean out carbon deposits and bring some life back to your engine. This becomes a big deal on supercharged applications, where increased cylinder compression due to carbon build up can lead to detonation (KR). I SeaFoam my cars yearly.

IDK about the sea foam stuff...My opinion is to just use a good Fully Synthetic oil, and change in on a regular basic. You won't have engine deposits using a Good FULL synthetic from day one. My Engine with 77K is spotless inside.

I'd personally do it out in the boonies if you can; if your car happens to smoke quite a bit, it can become a real hazard for other drivers.
The first time I did it on my GP- it smoked up a 2 lane road by our apartment for almost 50' (and I don't mean light haze, I mean thick smoke) before it started to dissipate.
