Dex eats gaskets?

RE: Dex eats gaskets?
It's not necessarily the DexCool that eats the gaskets... it's that a system with DexCool that's not properly maintained will cause sludge, and eat away at gaskets...
I myself prefer the green, and switched to it back in 2005, and have been fine ever since.
However, if you check to ensure you do not have leaks, do not take on water or other contaminants (intake leak, slight headgasket leak, etc...), then your system will last a long time... improper maintenance of your cooling system, regardless of coolant will lead to issues down the road.

RE: Dex eats gaskets?
Dexcool is bad news for gaskets. I agree, Lav, improperly maintained systems will have much to do with this problem, however, Dexcool is supposed to be 150,000 mile coolant...definitely is not...lol. I advise everyone I know who has Dexcool to drain it and use a universal coolant. Before I did my intake gaskets, the previous ownerhad them done...the combination of using dexcool, and the gaskets being improperly seated killed those Fel-Pros. It's done right now...lol.
