I would steer clear of cut outs myself.

Our NA 3.8L's require some back pressure or you end up loosing out on HP through the mid to upper RPM range.

I already have flowmaster 40's, but I am going to have the U bend eliminated and the resonator replaced with a glass pack or a racing muffler. BTW, rummor has it the factory mufflers on the 3.8L are no more restrictive than flows. So unless your swapping out mufflers for sound I would stick with the factory mufflers... Ok, ingnore all that jumbo, the flows sound really nice..

A cut out is a valve of sorts that dumps the exhaust right after the manifolds before it runs through the cat.

that's what I thought. But then when he made the comment about just "sticking with a catback system" and I got all confuzzled. I thought you guys were referring to a "cut out" as an axle back exhaust, where they cut out the old muffler and weld on the new to the existing piping.
