Angry Chipped piston, used l67 block+Xp hot cam?????

02 l36 with zzp supercharger kit. K&n and that's about the mods done on her, no intercooler being considered.

Ok I might have chipped one fml. I'm short on money and wanted the cost effective route. My buddy is doing the work on my car at his shop for 400, including adding my headers painting my supercharger and valve covers and pretty much anything being done on the engine since it's gonna be taken apart.

My concerns about this block and the possibility of camming it.

I no I should get an l67 block cause of the compression. So putting in l67 piston probably won't make sense. I'm trying to find somewhere to get a used one. If or when I do. I'm thinking of the xp hot cam from zzp.
For the cam shaft I was asked by zzp about 6 options
Crow cam spring
Retainers
Double roll master roller
Ls7 lifters
Oil pump cover
And push rods

It also recommends comp lifters. Are all of these supporting mods really needed. If not I don't think I can throw in an extra 1k on these parts, since the block is probably 3-500$ plus labor lol

Thank o wise 3800 gurus

At minimum you should replace the lifters, pushrods, retainers, springs and timing chain. A fresh oil pump wouldn't hurt. I would go the extra mile and replace it also.

If you chipped a piston prepare yourself for the potential of additional damage. Every engine I have torn down that had a chipped piston also had cylinder wall scoring. The block may need to be bored a minimum of .030 in order to salvage the block. The only other way would be to sleeve the cylinder, but no matter how you look at it either of these procedures will push you above the $500 budget.
