Checking fuel pressure. Help!
Good Morning. I have a 2000 Monte Carlo and would like to make sure my fuel pressure is OK. I understand there is a fuel pressure regulator located on the "fuel rail". Can I check the pressure here? Do I need a special tool? Also, where is the fuel rail? Any assistance would be appreciated!......scott
You didn't say what engine you have, and the two engines are quite different.
On the 3800- the fuel rail has the red arrow pointing to it:

The pressure test port is all the way to the front, drivers side on the rail (just follow it across)- just below the pressure regulator: (its behind the black plastic cap pointing at the back of the thermostat housing)

Obviously, you have to remove the plastic engine cover first to see this stuff.
On the 3400, I couldn't find a good shot with everything on- but I did find a decent pic with the upper intake removed:

The fuel rail is circled in red- follow it to the left of the pic- up to the end of the fuel log that connects all the injectors on that bank- and you'll see the threaded nipple hanging off the end of the log. That is the test port (yours should have a black plastic cap on it like the 3800 pic though).
As for special tools- just a fuel pressure test gauge. Depending on what type you have, depends if you'll have the right adapters to make it screw on.
