Default Busted/Defective water pump :/

so tonight. (approx 15 minutes ago) i was driving with a friend and i hear a "crinkle" noise. he goes.. "what was that?" i go "maybe i ran over a can? or something" we keep driving we hear it again.. then i pray that it wasnt the car.. i pull over. steam is coming from the engine bay. i pop the hood. coolant all over the engine bay. on the insulator in the hood, engine cover, leaking out of the bottom of the car. i began looking to see if a hose came loose or cracked or something. couldnt see well. real low on coolant i have my dad bring me some and i drop it off at the dealership that we always use for service.

i had a new water pump put into my car about a month or two ago. im thinking maybe this was a defective water pump. but the dealership warrantees the part and the work.

any inputs? rough night

Might be a bad pump or bad gasket

Pump, maybe a poorly seated pump gasket, the coolant elbows.

A hit with a pressure tester should reveal the cause.

The pump could be bad or maybe a heater hose blew off. Hopefully it's the pump so the dealership can cover the cost.
