Default Building up my new Monte Carlo SS

Hey guys. I just bought my first Monte carlo. I used to own a buick grand national.(mostly stock). I was wondering if I should go with a fuel injected engine or stay with carbuerated for my 85 monte SS. My goal is to make low 11 second passes on DoT approved tires. Currently the car has a 305 in it and it isn't a limited slip differential. I am thinking of going to a 383 stroker kit from Jegs or summit racing(carb'd) or buying a used LQ9/LSX block engine going for fuel injection. I am pretty new to building a street/strip drag car. any suggestions on a limited slip somewhat cheap and reliable differential? i have a small budget to spend on making my monte a low 11 second car. (5-7grand over the course of next year).A carbuerated setup maybe easier for me to tune/work on before jumping into converting the car over to fuel injection. any input is appreciated.

i wouldgo from the back to the front. imo. to ge what you like for the rear becaus a good posi set up. is always a ood set up for first mod for a rwd imo. after that work on its breathing full exaughst intake and the ignition up grade. i do have a question is what are you looking for as what do you like as in comfertble with? some thing with ahigh hp and torq or some thing that it performs good on a limited budget? also upgrade the breaks as well i have seen a car with a lot of good performance added to it with out uping the breaks.

Get a 5.3 you can pick them up for like $300-500 depending milage put a zo6 cam in it an a turbo build a good rear end an you'll be in the 11's.plus if you pop that 5.3 there easy an cheap to replace an stock can make up 700hp with boost.
Thats what i would do
Don't forget to build the trans.

I would like to make 400+ rwhp/torque and not have to go to a standard iron big block. If I can stay away from a turbo/procharger/supercharger that would be nice too for now. I would like the potential to upgrade to forced induction/nitrous in a couple years realistically. Just enjoy and maintain reliable on tap power for now. Full engine assembly for 3-5grand. Should I go with the ford 9" for a cheap and reliable rear end? If so do i just need to change out the gearing in the dif housing or whole axle? I never swapped rearends just replaced heh.

If you want efi get a lsx.Any of the truck engines will do they make crazy power on the cheap. You'll need a new fuel tank with a pump.As for the rear end there weak.to hold any kind of power reliably you'll want to swap in some thing better.
A 12 bolt or a 8.5 10 bolt or a 9" rear but it will eat a lot of your budget.

ok.

would this be a cheap resolution vs buying a whole new rear end assembly?

You'll need more than c-clip eliminators. That 10 bolt is really small the stock 305ho can kill it.I think the cheapest would be to swap a rebuilt GN 10 bolt in there are few places that sell them (I think) it's a 8.5 vs your 7.65.It's pretty much the same as my rear end an it's only a hair bit smaller than a 12 bolt.
They can hold as much power as a 12 bolt.I seen a few stock 8.5's go 10's with a big block.
Plus the GN rear should bolt right in with little effort.
