Take your plastic engine cover off, follow the upper radiator hose (left of your air box) and you'll come to the thermostat housing, just pop that open and you'll see the thermo

I recommend you purchase a Haynes manual for your car. Will definitely help for some of the easy tasks

Thanks for the info and pics, guys!

So when I turn my car off, this loud fan comes on. I'm not sure what it is, maybe it has something to do with a bad thermostat? Also, the check engine light came on. Do you think these things will be solved just by replacing the thermostat?

Thanks

Wow. Such an easy fix. Thanks!

Previously, someone mentioned that if I take out the thermostat, fluid will drain all over the place. Is this true? If so, how would I go about replacing it without damaging anything? Is there already a thread on how to change the thermostat?

Sorry about being a pain! I just don't know much about engines... yet.

You're not being a pain, just in need of knowledge about your car, hang in there.... pretty soon you'll be able to help others out when they have questions...

Yes whatever coolant is in the housing and hose will drain out. My advice is tilt the house out so less will leak out. Have a rag near buy to wipe off the spilled stuff. Then once you put it back on, run it for a while and unscrew the top **** on the housing until coolant comes out for a bit to drain it.

x2, just keep rags around the area to soak it up, you won't lose that much if your car is cold. Buy a bottle of Dexcool 50/50 and just replace what came out.

Thanks for all the help! And all advice is good advice, Pacer. Sorry I didn't acknowledge you specifically. Do you guys think I should just upgrade to the 180* thermostat from zzp while I'm replacing it?
