Automatic to Manual
I am thinking about changing my Monte from automatic to manual. Im wondering if anyone out there has done it before or if anyone knows what all needs to be done as far as: shift cable and linkages, does the axle shaft have to be replaced, and anything with the PCM since the calibration would be different.Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated. 2004 LS by the way.

hmmm weve gone over this alot...short and sweet u will need to find a manual that fits into the automatics sopt then cut apart ur sencter counsel and basically customize ur entire enterior and dont forget figuring out how to run an extra pedal plus figuring out how to make it actually functional and then u may need a new axle because automatics transaxles and manual transaxles are different dont forget that ur pcm thinks u have an auto and will be sending signals to the tranny for when it shifts so u will need ur pcm reprogrammed...ahh thats all i really remember but im sure if u used the search button u would find more

Yes we do. I think our forums need a David Letterman Top 10 list of questions not to be reposted. Each item then has a link to a thread that of what needs to be done.
Search function = unknown technology.

RE: Automatic to Manual
It's simple. You can get the whole job done in, like, three hours ... starting right after Breakfast. If everything goes OK, you could have the whole thing wrapped-up and be home in time for dinner.
Just Cruise the Strip and find a Used Car Joint that has something you could learn to love that has a Stick in it. There you go. Trade the Automatic for a Gear Shifter. Done.
That's the "Easy way"
The "Hard way" is going to be appreciably more difficult, extremely labor intensive, very costly, and next to impossible to do without some Major Fabricating, disturbing the Center Dash area and Console.
One of the reasons you never see it get done on any of the TV Car Shows; I imagine.
