Alright guys, I've been looking into it, and I'm thinking about Getting a Wizaired Cold Air Intake. I have read quite a few reviews, and heard mostly good things, but I'm not too sure about this one. I've got an '04 Dale jr edition with the L67. The problem I'm having is that with the Wizaired CAI the Intake Air Tempurature sensor mounts into the box (seen in figure 3.12 on page 4), not the tube that goes directly to the throttle body (like in figure 2.1).

I want to see real results when I put a CAI on my car, I'm skeptical; although I am willing to spend money to hear the difference, i want to know there is a performance difference too.

I've got my own scan tools, and I can measure grams per second, and Air temperature, so i want to compare numbers before and after. Problem is, if the IAT doesnt go into the tube, I don't see how it can measure accurately.

1. Is there a safe way to modify this to secure the IAT into the air tube?

2. Has anyone used one of these CAI's and gotten different measured results, and not just 'felt' and 'heard' the difference?

3. Also, does anyone have videos with lightly, or unmodified L67's before and after CAI on the dyno?

Any sort of help is greatly appreciated.

 

Well, the intake from cold air inductions keeps the stock tube from the filter to the throttle body, maybe that'll be a better option?

I thought about that for a moment, but it looks to me like the new tube from wizaired will be less restrictive, and it appears to have a sort of heat shield around it, that could surely make a difference in how dense the air is

 

CAI Inc has done some testing, and found that the stock tube really isn't restrictive enough to warrant the creation of a new tube. I do like their fit and finish too.

The Wizaired works really well, but I just don't care for the looks that much.

 

Owning a wizaird and seeing both the wizard and cold air inductions kits, I think cold air inductions has a much better fit and finish. Better hold downs and such.

I have read some people have had the wizaird tube shred over time from age and heat.

Sadly I may be stuck with the wizaird as I'm not sure the cold air inductions will work with my l26 uim swap (I had a pain making the wizaird work).

 

Does anyone have a video with numbers before and after the Cold Air Inductions one?

 

The power gain is negligible really, cai inc. says 10 whp gain.

I got the CAI and I can notice the sound and the mpg I was getting 29-30 now I get 32-33 hiway speed. It looks good and fits good get a lot of commets at car shows how nice it looks.

 

I agree with everyone who has posted the CAI looks good and has a good change to the engine intake sound. That is a result you can BANK on!!

But I agree, any HP changes are going to be slight. If you are only going for HP changes, consider "gutting" your air box. Here's a link about it:

Comparing the factory opening on the air box to the opening in your throttle body, I believe the air box is bigger. If you gut it, more surface area is open to the fresh air. Only additional things you could consider, insulate the box and buy a better duct tube and/or insulate the duct tube. My guess is the gains will be almost the same and very little, if any out of pocket.
Just a thought.
