Default Alternative to trans. flush

I've done some reading and from the sounds of it I don't want to get a transmission flush for my MC. I've noticed that in the lower gears sometimes it will slip into gear kinda hard.

What are my alternatives, what have you guys done with your mcs? I'm at about 84-85k miles right now.

I let mine die and then dropped in a used trans with 1 year warranty.

You don't have to do a full flush, but you can still drop the pan and change the filter / half the fluid.

Well what I read is the flush is this machine that actually shoots stuff backwards into the line...which can cause more problems than it's supposed to fix.

Why only half the fluid? Why not replace all of it like with an oil change?

Because unless you hook the car up to a machine (something you don't want to do) you don't get all the fluid out.

But there's nothing wrong with dropping the pan and changing about 7 quarts of the fluid along with getting a new filter

MaMonte just wrote up a great how-to on another thread:

Sounds a lot cheaper too. Cool thanks I'm going to try that this weekend.

As I mentioned in the write up, use Dexron VI!!!!

You may be surprised at the results, your tranny just might act a lot better after a change. At 85,000 with never being changed, i'd call that very over due!

Well I've done that, got all the old fluid out it wasn't that dark and the pan wasn't very dirty either. It was all replaced with dexron 6, and the level is right on and for the most part my problem is gone, but it happens still.
Basically I'm at a stop I barley press the gas, probably about 1500 - 1700 rpm, it will jump into gear with some pretty good force. It does this for the first couple gear shifts.

I've heard this may have something to do with the motor mounts.

i say that if its done as schedualed mantainence intervals of 36000 miles its perfectly safe to do flushes.

i was just talking to my brother in law about this earlier. he has 90,000 on his matrix, and was telling me that he hasent done anything besides tires, brake pads, and oil changes.

i said what about mantainence. lol

i think if you wait that long you end up with more shavings than normal and would cause problems, when you flush.

i had mine flushed at 30 i plan to do it again at around 65-70 and again at 100.

i only drive about 10 a year so thats not that bad every 3.5 years.

I have 53,000 on mine and I highly doubt it has been changed, but who do I trust or where would any of you recommend me taking it to?? I really think I should have it done this summer.

If you don't trust yourself to drop the pan and change the fluid/ filter, then find a reputable trans shop (not AAMCO) that will do it, use Dexron VI, and charge a decent price.

Who changes your oil? Can they do a tranny service?
