So, Ive been looking at engines on Ebay and I was thinking If its possible to take a 3800 series 3 engine into my 98 3.1L Monte. Would It be very difficult? I know that the Z34 has a 3800. How long could it take?

 

thta all depends on whos doing it, i did the 3.1 to 3800sc upgrade.spent a couple hours a day on it and it took a couple months, will need new wiring harness, and will have to do alot of fabbing, so if your a n00b dont touch it

 

It's do-able, but if you've never done one, or done major engine work, I'd suggest watching someone do an engine swap first.. ask ZZP or any shop that does 3800s in your area, and see if they'll let you sit in and watch them do a swap.

MMS is another vendor that does swaps, they wouldn't charge you that much to do it, and you could swap to a 3800 SC, either Series II or III. Do a couple of upgrades while you're at it, and have 300 crank HP in no time.. or more depending on what you want to do.

 

Well my friend is pretty good with cars, who would probably do it. He has an old Trans Am. He did most of the restoration work, too.
