You can take all of the electronics off of the 700, & just use the TV cable, hooked to the carb, & with the tension adjusted properly, & just use your foot to kick it down.

It is EXECTLY what I have done to my 82 El Camino with 92 700-R4 mated up to a SBC 406 ... The 700 has been worked-over "sum' fierce", but all the electronics were taken out, & I set the TV at WOT, & let it be .. it is perfect.

If there is antything else I can offer, ask.

I will have to go look at my 93 Chevy Silverado with a 350 & a 700-R4. =)

Isn't it cool when everything matches up & someone has the same exact vehicle you have questions about?

If I recall correctly the 4L60E did not come in the F-bodies until 94. So there should be a TV cable (which much be set very precisely) if it is indeed a 700R4 (or as GM called it at that point the 4L60). If it's electronic then it's not a 93 as only the trucks and SUVs got the electronically controlled version in 93.

It all goes by what the vehicle came out of originally. If it ORIGINALLY was in the truck, then it is electronic. If it was ORIGINALLY in a passenger car (checked my sources and ALL passenger cars didn't get the electronic version till 94) it is not electronic.

The 85 motor has no provisions for an electronically controlled transmission. So if it did come out of a truck you can either sell it or get a non-electronic transmission OR you can buy a transmission controller (which will work as well). Either option will work, it just depends on what you want to do. However, I honestly don't see a lot of benefit to swapping an 85 motor into a truck. The 93 TBI motor is plenty strong (stronger than the 85 carbed motor actually) and if you do need more power, you'd be better off with a vortec motor swap. Thing with carbed motors is the more power you're getting out of them, the more tempermental it is on the street. I have a 93 Suburban (which outweighs your regular pickup by at least 1500 pounds, even more if it's a regular cab) and the TBI motor that came with the truck has no problem. Not to mention I don't much like trying to start a carbed motor when it's below 45 degrees. That's a HUGE benefit to any form of EFI and why I haven't touched the motor in my truck. That's just my opinion on the subject so take it for what it's worth.
