82 Monte timing gear question
It was common practice for the U.S. auto manufacturers to use timing gears with nylon teeth. This was done to reduce engine noise. The aftermarket replacements are often made of steel. Replacing a nylon tooth gear with a steel tooth gear is fine. You might notice a slight increase in engine noise, but nothing overbearing.
