Default 5.3L 2006 Monte SS question

Question:

Does the plastic intake manifold cover on top of the engine (Not the decrative engine cover but what is underneath) come off easily?

What is involved? This is part of my engine bay dress up project. I'd like to paint it but would perfer to paint it outside of the engine bay if I can.

If it's anything like the 3800, it's not HARD, but you'll have to take a lot apart just to get it off.

thanks CHI...What is this part called anyway? a plentium?

I just did't want to risk screing up the engine. After taking it off are there gaskets or anything like that that need to be replaced?

I followed your advise and took the valve covers off to paint. Put them back on and no leaks (I replaced those gasket)

I'd paint it in place I I were you Tadd. Aluminum foil can be very helpful in masking off odd shaped parts.
