4.3L 262cid
And while I'd love to swap in a bigger engine, I have no idea where to begin on that because I can't find threads which have done that on this year Monte Carlo.
So I need to figure out what upgrades I can make to this sad v6.
Yes. Looks great but as you can see it will forever be slow.

Just trying to get an idea how screwed I am until I save up 7k.
edit:
anybody know if same year Vortec 4.3 heads will fit on the non-Vortec 4.3 in this Monte?
if that's the case I have a path forward with this engine.

In my opinion, you should work on the handling/drivability of the car before making any power upgrades but I completely understand the desire to be able to put the pedal down and go. Maybe look into whether or not a manual swap is possible. That could make it feel a little quicker and definitely make it more fun to drive. With that said, thats not even the route I take when modding my vehicles. I always have to do something first to make it a little quicker. Its more of a payoff after completion to be able to feel that boost in power.
Look into the typhoon and syclone forums maybe. Those had the 4.3 I think and they were turbo'd. I also think the heads may be interchangeable with the vortec 4.3s so maybe the intake as well? These are just ideas that are poping up and could be complete hogwash. Good luck!
Its slow by drag racing (straight line/acceleration) standards. -But you dont need a ton of power to be fast. However, I know what you mean with the question. Yea I would consider it slow but who cares, you know? As soon as you start modding any stock vehicle youre reducing reliability which you will find out should you start doing any custom work.

I've read every thread on the internet about swapping a 4.3 lol. It's doable in the under 2K range if you do it yourself.
As for drivability, I'm swapping out the shocks the same day I get it but that's a $100 upgrade.
I know people like to spend a ton of money, but 4 Monro-Matic Plus Shocks will have that thing feeling great.
some guy on another forum just told me "As for heads, all SBC based V6's can swap heads so as long as you got the right intake (not sure if they had the same changes like it's big brother) to match the heads." and I would love to know that what he just said is true. Can anyone verify that for me? That means I can swap heads and turn my engine into a cyclone without changing out the block as well.
