The 3800 in stock from is a solid motor for durability. The transmission is where your worries will be over 100,000 miles, sometimes they will start slipping and go to the bad at that point, and I have heard of the occasional dash gauge cluster set going out, but the engine itself is VERY solid!!! Just keep some good oil (and by that, I mean most major brand) and a good filter (meaning most any of them) on that engine and all should be well!

The stock valve cover gaskets are crap and also will leak. There is a recall on them, replace them yourself and save yourself a trip to the dealer. They're cheap enough to replace.
Change your coolant yearly- Dex-Cool is NOT good for 5 years like GM initially advertised.
Other than that...change the oil, perform regular tune up maintenance and it'll last you a long, long time.
