2007 Monte Carlo SS
And i didnt know that, and if you look above i said id put that down the line, meaning ill do it some other time, after tax return maybe, as of now just a 3500$ limit.
Nah, your fine, ive been watching around on this site for awhile, finally got a Monte, and now im here to share, and ask.
ZZmonteSS: I had a conversation with a company near Dayton OHio who purchased some manual transmissions from GM that were meant for the Pontiacs and never used- what model Pontiac I don't know for sure but they are offering the same tranny for our Wbody Montes in a 6 spd manual if you are interested. Not exactly sure but the name of the company I think was Milzy Performance, I spoke to a man name Mike, very helpful. If you want a manual behind that LS4 this company is the only one I know doing it with an original GM transmission. I also did some investigative work on whether to use a supercharger or turbocharger on my LS motor and I did not have enough hood clearance for a supercharger and as it is I still had to lower the cradle 3/8" for hood clearance with the manifold I used from Precision engineering. I went with a Garrett Turbo charger and Jardine custom exhaust. I decided to stay with my automatic used all the right parts - 300M and cryro everything and Damaged my tranny on the dyno with only 12# of boost. Front band, converter and I think the tech said either planetary or sun gear not sure but they all let loose. The tranny is the weak link - you will spend hundreds making it right - do your due diligence and it should have some life.
GM races an 1100 HP Ecotech with the same tranny and it holds up pretty well and there is an 8.9 second twin turbo Prix in Ohio I forgot the name of the company and they get 50 runs before rebuilding. 50 runs that is about 12 - 13 miles guess that isn't to bad for a full race car. Hope this was helpful.

As said multiple times above- if you're looking for a bolt on setup; your only option is the Cartuning turbo kit. There are no bolt on SC options, so obviously it would be much more expensive.
Also, even the turbo kit alone is super expensive- I wouldn't budget any less than $10k if I wanted to go that route- the kit is $5500; add another $4k+ for a fully built trans; and another $1k for a decent set of tires.
There is no manual trans that is gonna drop in, especially not one that will handle a 500whp turbo LS4 with how heavy these cars are.
Honestly, these cars are not known for having reliable transmissions at all. If you don't believe me- check out the thread on clubgp's message forums in the GXP section and see how many people have had their trans replaced (some multiple times)- both in and out of warranty- some with crazy low miles (like 30k). Even bone stock, these engines seem to tear up the transmissions- so you can only imagine what doubling the horsepower will do.
If you are trying to use it for a reliable daily driver, I'd keep the mods minimal- intake and exhaust to bring some sound out- and leave it at that. Any more (or beating on it a lot)- and you're just asking to replace the transmission IMO.

how much would it honestly kill my transmission, even just mainly using the car for getting around...and the fact to show off something nice and unique.

04's and 05's are 3.8L's and only some of the SS monte carlos are supercharged. the 06-07 new body style monte carlos come with a 3.6,3.9 v-6's and The SS model comes with 5.3L v-8 no superchargers. The cartuning turbo is a great bolt on for an added 200 hp. My dad had one in his 04 monte carlo ss 3.8L, sounds awesome and pretty fast only 100 hp gain.
This is what had me convinced. im picking up a 2006 monte carlo ss. maybee plan on getting the catruning turbo

Just to correct/build on what chriswilli said, the L67 was available in some 04 Monte SS' but it was available in all 05 SS'. The 06 Monte was avaible with a 3.5L (not 3.6L) v6, 3.9L v6, and the 5.3L v8. The 07 Montes were not available with a 3.9L v6.
