Default 2006 Monte Carlo Flex Fuel?

Hello,

I have been driving my Monte for sometime and noticed the other day when filling up that there was a sticker near my gas cap that said e85. Dose this mean its flex fuel ready?

It is a 2006 Monte Carlo LS, with the 3.5L v6

I have been doing some research about this but I want to make sure before I fill up w/ e85 and find out that I was wrong lol..

According to this list http://www.e85fuel.com/information/f...vs_1.13.09.pdf my car is considered a FFV.

Also I was told that Flex Fuel vehicles should have a yellow cap on the gas tank. My car didn't come w/ a yellow gas cap or any flex fuel badges.

I know that e85 isn't as good as burning regular gasoline, as you will lose performance. However I do alot of daily driving and if I can save a buck at the gas pump it will help alot in this current economic climate.

cool.

I also noticed while browsing the site here that someone had similar questions.

Someone brought up the issue that there was a recall and that you should get it serviced before using e85.
TSB #06162 -- SERVICE UPDATE FOR INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES E85 VIRTUAL FLEX FUEL SENSOR (VFFS) UPDATE- REPROGRAM ECM. *KB (NHTSA ID #10022369, JUNE 01 2007)

I just bought my car about 6ish months ago from a GM certified dealer, would they be required to preform all recall work before selling the car? Or at least I assume they should. Should I maybe call the dealer and double check? Or do you think I am fine with filling up the tank?

...Yes, I would call your dealer...It should be in their computer `if the TSB was checked/performed on your Monte. It's sure better to be safe then sorry...Keep us updated, and let us know how it performs and what you MPG is with the E85...Good Luck & EnJoy your Monte.
