Question Flex Fuel

Hey guys since this isnt really Monte specific I though I should put it here. Well since gas by me is between $3.95-$4.05 and flex is only $2.95 is worth it to use flex at this price even though the miles per gallon are lower?

I actually just got an 2008 Impala LT with the 3.5l flex fuel, but I think the Montes with the 3.5 are flex compatible.

I thought the 3500 was flex fuel, but I don't know for sure. I don't think the rest of the engines are, but then again, I could be wrong about that too.

How many miles can you drive on each tank? mpg x galons per tank. the reg is going to be higher so subtract flex mpt (miles per tank) from reg mpt. then divide that by your mpg and you get the gallons of flex it takes to travles equal distance. multiple that by the price and add that to what it cost to fill your tank with flex and if it is lower then the price to fill up on reg. you save money.

Yes, you can use flex fuel in a 3500. My 2007 LT came with a recommendation to use flex or regular. Since none of the gas stations around here have flex fuel, I've always used regular. It's up to $3.89 in St. Louis now.

I remember seeing a flex fuel station at the NYS thruway stop on my way home from school. I didn't think flex fuel was that much cheaper, but how many mpg's do you loose?

$.20 isn't worth my time, i can save that on gasoline by going to jersey instead of ny. Theres a station local that sells E85 according to websites, im gonna stop by tommorow and see what they're price is.

checked the local station that has E85. They sell it for $3.42 and have regular gasoline at $3.95 Someone would have to do some number crunching to find out if you really do come out ahead or not
