Default 2004 monte SS'SC probs..possible sale!

Ok here goes.. my monte is now making a whining sound that is annoying it is getting louder by the day ...i took it to ammco for a free inspection and they told me that the the whining is due to trans probs and would cost me $1500-3000 depending on how the trans looks when they get it open....is there any way to tell ahead of time how much damage is done..and is the car worth keeping ?i also have to change out hub bearings and its shifting hard from 1st to 2nd gear .....im thinking about selling or trading it in "undecided"

Not even a hello? Fixing it is cheaper than buying a new car plus it has plenty of power and if engine is well maintained plus new transmission u should easily get over 300k out of it.

I'd just get it fixed assuming the rest is in good shape.. Should be worth while for fixing the trans and keeping it.

What I would do first: change the tranny fluid and filter just to see if that helps any...or atleast help it last a bit longer.

Second, as everyone says... repairing the tranny is much cheaper in the long run than trading it in or selling.
Motors are great in these vehicles, same can't be said for the tranny.

I wouldn't take it to ammco or w/e transmission places advertise.
There are two guys that I know of that are well known in the 3800 community for rebuilding these trannies.

Tim King

TEP/Triple Edge Performance. Good luck.
