RE: 2004 MC SS V8 conversion
possible? yes! would i want to do it...no...not if its a car you drive everyday...
because it is going to take a LONG time of playing around with all the electrical and everything to get it to work...not something i'd want to do...
i'd advise against it

i would sujest if you cant find the kit to get a v-8 that was rolled or somethign so you can get all of wireing etc.. out of it for you durring the swap out.
see i would do this if i had another car so that i had one to play with also LOL

Definately the worst problem is getting the car to think it's a V8. The V8's came out and everything was changed, computer, stereo, interfaces and everything. If you actually get the engine up and running you're going to lose a lot of the creature comforts. I'd start by sneaking into GM and getting a full build sheet and wiring diagram down to the individual circut board and signal breakdowns.....

Ok cool, sounds like a good idea. How would i go about getting the wiring diagrams and all? Also you said something about stereo, i wouldnt be able to use the one thats in it? what exactly am i looking at as far as mods go for this if it goes down? Thanks for all the information and suggestions!

the V8 montes are still very new so there isnt much aftermarket for them yet. for the price of swaping to the v8 you can get a race trany, and drop a mod'd supercharger and upgraded computer on your car. and be much faster.
if your worried about fuel economy, i would still suggest the 3800 with supercharger over the new DoD v8. in factory trim yeah the v8 will do better on gas, but with the powertuner, you can retune the car and ger great milage out of it. i have heard people seeing as much as 38mpg on a mod'd engine! ofcourse those were ideal conditions, but still 35 mpg is not unreachable.
bottom line the mods, toys, and tuning knowledgeare not out for the v8 yet. so unless you want to wait 2 more years, i would go with the Supercharger. heck they are now at 9.01@150mph in the quater! by summer there will deff be a 8 sec grandprix powered by a v6! now aint that some ****! the new V8 is a long time away from those kind of numbers
