Default 2001 3.4 Ls

I have a 01 monte carlo 3.4 V6
i have on it the K&N filter for the ss custom fit to fit the 3.4
20% tints (dont matter)
the real reason i made this post is because all the parts i see online are only to fit the SS
Me and couple guys started a car club for any car and i have one of the fastest in the club but still cant even stay with a Gst eclipse
i really wanna find part to buy that will increase speed and top end of my car
i have found throttle bodies, power programers (hypertech) and other parts but which are only for the SS
my next plan is this weekend to remove the resonator and the U pipe and strait pipe the exhaust with a 2.5

if anybody could help me find parts of any kind. Headers, New pullies, even a supercharger to fit the 3.4
it would help alot. so leave links to sites parts ect
thanks

just for future reference before the other members tell you......we refer to the 2000-2005 3.4L engine as the 3400 engine. so just keep that in mind

as far as performance parts go for the 3400....they are not a lot available. if you want SERIOUS power you need the 3800. but if you want to just stick with the 3400...... milzymotorsports or rsmracing (their website has been down forever and i dont know whats going on) will be your best choices for parts.....

and as far as your K&N system goes.....it is GREAT to finally have someone who has put that on their LS......im sure there will be a lot of people asking you about it......

look around the forums.....their are a lot of threads on the 3400 engine.....

drive safe!!

that exhaust getting the ubend delete done and getting rid of the resonator and putting a high flow cat on is going to be a big gain for you response wise anyway...

then k&n system would be good too

Dirtyray: Take it to a good competent exhaust shop. If you remove the U-Bend that EVERYONE is talking about, put in a high flow cat converter, and replace the stock resonator (that 1.5 foot premuffler can before the actual muffler) with some 2.5 or 2.25" straight pipe you will like the sound and love the power. Replace the 02 sensor and I wouldn't be surprised if you saw 8 hp. The shop should be able to pick out the right cat converter.

That's the first step. After that, it's a full exhaust, and a true cold air intake, ram air intake, or fender well intake (do a search for CAI, or FWI, you'll find posts with good info) Next step is to get a tuner. after that, the sky is the limit! Remember, the more power that engine makes, the more abuse the transmission gets. If you can't confirm that the transmission has ever been flushed at minimum I would do the trans flush, replace the trans filter, and replace the fluidwith full synthetic fluid of the same rating.

Plugs and wires probably won't net you much for power, but it's one less (cheaply replaced) item that can be crossed off the list.

i know its an expensive upgrade.. but no one said anything about turbo chargng the 3400 sfi. Now wait, dump the knee jerk reaction of pushing him to the 3800 and think about it real quick. If he really wants some serious power.. the turbo charger, intercooler, and torque converter along with some of the previously mentioned suggestions like the exhaust, tranny cleanup, you'd be working with a lot more power.( wouldn't you?)

yes that is true....you would be making a lot of power. i have seen a LS with all those upgrades on cardomain.com......he claims that he could beat a 3800 SC . if money wasnt an issue.....id say go all in. but when you look at the turbo being about $3500-$4000 grand alone.....thats getting expensive. and then a tranny upgrade would be necessary......about another $1000. then you add up exhaust, intercooler, and then any other upgrades.....you are looking at close to $6000 if not more. now if you were gonna spend that kind of money.....you might as well upgrade the whole engine. you could get a refurbed 3800 for about $1500 or a used 3800 SC for about $3500.....and there are 3800 FWD cars running 8's in the quarter mile[&:]. yeah......thats fast.

hope all that helps.
