Default 1981 Center Console Linkage

The linkage on my center console shifter broke, and so I have had to resort to shifting by way of the column.
The problem is definitely in my center console, and not underneath the car.
So my question is how do I remove the center console to get at this linkage?
It's got a T-shifter...stock? Not sure.

So I figured it all out and got the center console off and apart.
I got my shifter linkage cable out of the housing, and took it to the local auto parts suppliers, and they both told me the only linkage they have is 29.75 inches, and mine measures in around 26 inches or so.
Does anyone know why their computers only show this one 29.75 inch long shifter linkage?
