Trans Build: 1 aweomse trans build! pic heavy!
#61
Hey John/Turbo Monte, looks like a, slightly durable trends build you got there. I haven't seen the insides of my teams in quite awhile (thankfully). That Monte will def scoot..and that trans (plus the stall converter) will make it feel like an ol skool V8 car trans w/the solid shifts, etc.
I got a question and a lil input for ya...From the pics you posted, it looks like you used the OE/paper "Channel Plate Gaskets". IF you did use the paper gaskets, jus be careful if or when you tweak the line pressure. I've blown out those gaskets twice before the metal replacements were available. In my option, the metal Channel Plate Gaskets should be the only choice when replacing them gaskets, even for a stock rebuild.
Keep up the sweet work with making your Monte faster, there's a few of us left.

Oh, and for the guys that replied about being intimidated, etc about rebuilding a 4t65e trans. I felt the same way...what I did was, I just picked one off my 3~4 broken transmissions, and started disassembling it. Then, I reassembled it (using the same I'll broke parts) just to get familiar with the parts, how they got, etc.
I was still a but nervous when I rebuilt my 1st trans...especially because of the time spent doing the rebuild, time removing/reinstalling, and the money spent on the parts that went into the trans. I was still nervous after the initial test to see if it worked properly...it took me probably 3-4 mo. to finally get comfortable enough to "have fun" with the car again.
....and even through removal/reinstall sucks...at least I'd..WHEN the trans fails the next time, you can feel comfortable just fixing it yourself and save the Labour money.
