Default 07 Monte Carlo

I just got a brand new monte carlo and i was wondering what you all would suggest I can do to speed it up a little. This is not an SS it is the regular one. Im not looking at racing it any but just stuff that would speed it up a little. Also does anyone know what the governor (if it has one) is set to cut it off at? I had mine at 118 the other day but the radar detector went off before i had a chance to see what it would do.

Really? The limiter in my '06 3LT is set at 113mph, which I really despise. I'd say look into getting some exhaust and intake work to start out. I still need to get an intake, but I did open up my exhaust a bit, and I can actually hear it now.

i would start with an intake and then go with either an exhaust(with a u-bend delete)of pcm reprogramming

dont know much about cars so what kind of intake? where do I get it? How much will it cost? will i be able to install it?

And yes I actually have a picture of the speedometer at 118. Friend took it with a cell phone. I think it had more in it but like i said when the radar detector goes off its time to slow down.

i would suggest either a K&N intake or a Wizaired but unfortunately im not sure if they even make an intake for a 3.5l...i searched K&Ns website and couldnt find one so hopefully another member can help u out on that one and as for if u can install it urself its not all that hard, take the old intake off and put the new one on...might need to drill a hole for the airflow sensor but thats about it

what kind of engine do you have? what year/trim do you ahve? the 06-07 monte's don't have this u bend. a pcm retune is the best thing you can do. i did an exhaust and u bend and got like .05 hundreths better on the track. i might ahve driven a little better that time, who knows. what picked me up 3 tenths at the track was the retune on my computer. thats what you need to do. if you've got a laptop, get a HP Tuner. i had mine tuned in a race shop in durham.
