Its very easy to ruin the paint with a rotary.. start with a DA...its almost impossible to ruin paint with DA... when you feel comfortable with that take the leap to rotary..

After watching that video I'm a little . I'll start by saying I don't know a lot about polishers, but it's my understanding a polisher that stops rotating when excessive pressure is applied is a good thing, not a bad thing. If the rotation stops it prevents damage/burning of the paint due to the excessive pressure. Is this not correct? Maybe some of the experienced people can weigh in on this so that I (and others) can get a better understanding.

As he states in the video, putting pressure on the polisher helps and increases its cut, while giving you better results.. Now He didn't say or me either that you need to put pressure on like he did. As he was just testing it. I have the Meguiars G110v2 and it does stop to easily sometimes and just drives me nuts. Its hard to explain over text exactly what im trying to say, but you will find there are time where you just wish it had x amount more power or the polisher doesn't stop rotating so you can get the results you want over a specific contour. This is why Ive started to really on my rotary more on some surfaces so I can achieve that result.

For example when I had my 03 monte. The rear bumper is almost impossible to correct with a DA polisher because of its contours. Now getting one that wont stop as easily you might be able to correct it with DA.

We have a porter cable we bought from Griots Garage years ago and still works like a charm.

I've always been happy with Craftsman products. Even though I wax mine by hand, I have an older version of this 6" orbital sander/polisher. My Dad has the exact same one I have. The only time I really use it on the car is to buff out the headlights.

Craftsman -6 in. Sander/Polisher with Rear Twist Handle
