wax?

wax?
OK so everyone hates the black box kit. I love it because it fixes my problems that only paint can. I have found a few other black waxes that are way more expensive then the black box kit and it is just the wax alone but we all no price and quality dont go hand in hand. Black Velvet and Pure Carnauba Black Paste wax are a few I found for around $30 a tub. Carnauba wax vs synthetic or a blend what is the best for a normal non-dyed wax? If I just do a touch up with a paint pen on the major scratch the rest I can remove with polishing compound and a terry cloth already did it to a few. If I do a touch up with a black 8555 pen on the major scratch will it be enough to use a normal wax to smooth it out and make it disappear like the black box does or will I just end up making it look worse? Lot of questions everything I read says that black box is not worth it to use others. But each thread and site I read seems to be slinging a different product. I used miguires and mothers but did not get the same amazing results the black box did. I have always used turtle wax since I was 13 and got my first car. What is your recommendations?

Just curious on what you're using for the polishing compound and terry cloth combo? Gotta be careful with some of them. I know "Ultimate Compound" is a physical abrasive and can do damage if applied incorrectly. Quite a few other harsh products out there too. You're using a DA right? Otherwise it's pretty much impossible to rid your imperfections by hand. Need something that can do 5-6k rpm to get the deep ones out.
Have you ever considered Dr. Colorchip for your larger chips and scratches? I know Mitch had some pretty good results. I'm not sure how bad the major scratch is that you continue to talk about is. If you could get some good pics of it, I'm sure someone here would be able to tell you if it's correctable with the Colorchip system. I know it's a little pricey but it would be better than just covering it up with a black wax IMO. (You already know I'm not a fan of the whole hiding the poor spots when there are ways to better correct them, but if the black box is what you see as your only option, why not continue to use it?)
My only recommendation on wax is Z2pro by Zaino.
I think if you did the colorchip system, then a good polish over that, fallow it with your favorite wax and I'm sure you'd be impressed.

I use Collinite #845. Especially for under hood painted parts.
