Default Trouble with polsihing rims

Hey guys,
The past few years I have had to polish my rims several times during the summer. They are bare aluminum rims. I am using Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish but it just doesn't seem like its going very well and shouldn't take 4 hours to do one rim (to make it look nice that is). I have been also throwing around if I should clear them by myself because it is a fortune to get them cleared by the auto shop. I need advice/tricks/tips to help me finish my rims and making them look like they are chrome.
I could attach pictures but dont know how to because I am a newbie!
Thanks fellas

Are you sealing after the polish?

I use this polish from Adam's and then use quick sealant to lock in the shine.

Metal Polishers | Best Metal Polish | Auto Detail Products

Quick Sealant

Car Sealant | Paint Protection | Car Detailing Supplies

The make a metal polishing pad and Mothers also make a couple that should speed up the job.

If you want to meet somewhere I can let you try the Adam's, I have both polishes. I live in NW suburb on Minneapolis.

Good luck getting ready for summer, I thought it was on its way...........

I'm going to have to try that sealant. My rims start to look bad after 1 rain.

I know its a little different from paint, but try a little wax if you can't get the sealant (as long as its fully polished). It should preserve it longer than just being bare.

Yes last year I tried wax and than late summer I tried paint sealant and it still came our like that...RonBoySS I live in west central Minnesota and go to school in South Dakota so I don't think I could make the trip anytime soon...

My rims aren't OEM (made by factory) they are aftermarket OE cheap rims obviously. Yes the thought of buying new ones came across my mind and so did paying for college at the same time and I thought I better pay the bills before get new rims

Here is my text back to him after i recieved the pics
. Ok they OEM diamond cut wheels, They look like they may have been tarnished a bit by a cleaner or tire dressing , a metal polish won't work as they are clear coated, you want to treat them as you would your paint, you want strip anything on there, dawn wash would work, claybar then compound and polish by hand then seal/wax won't be easy work but will pay off in the end
