Default Removing Two Center Air Vents?

I want to remove my two center air vents above my stereo because when I got my car they were chipped, broken and the paint job that was done to them was horrible. I have a haynes manual for my car but it does not describe how to remove them for my model. I have an 06' LT. Has anyone else removed this section of the dash before?

nice car, it looks like mine. im not sure if you remove the vents completely. im sure the silver bezel will come off. you might have to leave it the way it came

That sucks.....When I got the car used there were a bunch of small things wrong and this is about the last thing I want do do before my other mods. Here are two pics of what they look like. I dont even know how they got like this. It looks like mud almost on the inside fins(that won't come off at all) and the horizontal ones have like chunks missing that were painted over. I have no clue how any of this could have happened.....is yours an LTZ?

before you got the car, you should have had the dealer fix that crap. that is horrible, how long ago did you get the car and does it still have a warranty? im sure there has to be a way to get them off to put another on. no i have a 3lt 3.9

No, it doesn't have a warranty. I bought it in February of 08 and had the dealer fix ALOT of other interior and exterior flaws. I thought this one would be an easy fix but I guess not.......changing the subject a little, have you ever had problems with your A/C? My light just started flashing and it doesnt work. I thought i'd ask cuz i havent talked to many 06 monte owners.
