Plastic Panel on Truck Lid of the '98

My '98 Monte is all black. The Trunk lid has a "Plastic panel" above the
fluted Back-up light panel that is looking really dull. I've toyed with idea
of getting it repaced with a new one -- or using a "plastic polish" on it
to see it will get rid of the "haze"...
Any Ideas or experience on this??
Thanks!

The flat black paint will look just as bad or worse than the dull trunk panel. If your panel is in good shape without cracks or deep scratches then you could just polish it with a buffer/polisher. I would treat it like you would if you buffed a headlight. You may even be able to get away with just buffing and no wetsanding. I polished mine by hand with some 3M machine polish and it looked good for a week or so. It should last longer if you machine buffed/polished it.

I painted mine white ( body color ), but its the same if you wanted to paint it black.
First clean it real good with Dawn dish soap. Let air dry and use an adhesion promoter. My preference is BullDog. Then you can spray on some balck single stage paint. Why single stage? You dont have all the steps of Base coat/ Clear coat. I haven't had a single problem with mine and its been almost 6 months since i painted it.

That looks pretty good! Hate spend $$$ for new one! I'm
not real good with spray paint. I would never make it in
a Gang!
Thanks!
