Looks like a fun project! To help protect the paint on the bowties you can put a coat of satin clear on them. It will keep the flat appearance but protect the paint from chipping - a common problem I've seen on another forum when people paint their emblems and exterior trim.

Your really breakin that thing down to basics! I wouldnt remember where the pieces go back together.
