help me out its my first time hah
ok anyways tommarow im going to be washing my car by hand and i want to make it real real nice and wax it and everything, this is the first car that actually means enough to me to do this to so if anybody can give me some imput on like what kind of products to use like a car soap and what kind of wax and should i use shammys?
i think this could be hugely debated, its all what people like
personally i like meguiars products, soap just the soap that comes in a pink bottle that your pour in the watter, then wash the car, then shammy (any shammy is fine, i have the ones in the plastic tube...dont know the name) then for a wax i use meguiars nxt tech wax, it works really well, between washing and waxing you may want to clay bar it if its the first time and i use a megiars one for that too, so you clay bar it, then wax it, then if needed you may need to touch it up with final inspection(megiuars as well..lol)
and do it in the shade

Hey there Robert,
I second wizzkidd's suggestion - anything from Meguiars is phenomenal stuff! I have used the nxt generation polish as well, and I have found that its the best value for the money out there. It goes on/comes offreally easy. Just make sure you do it in the shade - baked on polish takes alot of elbow grease to come out..lol. Also, you may want to go to your local auto parts store and look for a microfibre wash mitt and polishing cloths. Imo they work best - smooth as silk! Good luck, and happy detailing!
p.s. dont forget the tires - a clean car with dirty wheels looks awful [:'(]
cheers!

I finally found NanoWax out here.
It takes less than 30 minutes to wax and wipe her down every couple of weeks.
...and she keeps real shineyfor days.

yah, forgot that , make sure you clean wheels, and the wetlook stuff for tires is good too, just remember to let that dry for an hour or 2 before you go anywhere or your clean car will have speckles all down the side from splatter off the tires
well i cleaned it today haha, it took me about 3.5 hours to wash and wax it all i drove it for about 1.5 hours and the back of my car was dirty again uggg im thinking i shoulndt have gotten a black car haah
lol...yah black is hard to keep clean, i can understand you there, do you live on a gravel road or something?? if it doesn't rain i can usually keep mine clean for a week at least, but it usually rains once a week at least up here..lol
I hear ya both... I washed and waxed a couple weeks ago (Meguiars) and it's a mess right now. LOL - we did have a storm go through last night. I love my black Monte.. only for about 2 minutes after waxing!! LOL
I know you've already washed and waxed her. Iuse Meguiars as well, both interior and exterior products, but have some higher end stuff too and it really doesn't seem to be that much different.
Every wash Iwipe out the door jams and the door edges, every other wash I open the trunk lid and wipe down the inside edges of the lid and the recessed edges of the trunk. Every couple of months wipe down inside the engine bay. It's worth the extra time and effort. I did this on my 97 Grand Prix. Had that car for 10 years and she still looked great when I sold her last month.
