rick I would get an actual detail paint brush from an art or hobby store. Maybe even somewhere like walmart. Something with a nice smooth tip.

How did you guys paint your letters PLEASE let me know if its some other then what I'm doing. Pictures would help if ya got them.
Rick, I went to a craft store and bought a pack of assorted artists brushes. Several were small enough to paint the letters on my engine cover - they're stiffer than the ones in the touch-up bottles and easier to use.

Miller: What did you do to your Motor cover? I know it's a 2006 V8. But did you buff off the letters ? Or is it off something else?? Mine says 5.3l V 8. DISPLACEMENT ON DEMAND..????????????????

Thanks Angie. I just started to fix mine. I took a razor blade to the lines under the words DISPLACEMENT ON DEMAND. Now I have to tape it off and re shoot the Victory Red again. Hope it doesn't leave a line where the tape is. Or I'll have to strat all over again. I'll check a craft store this weekend. Thanks for the tip. Plus that roller ball inside the touch up bottle isn't that easy to work with either. Just contacted a place that sell vinyl over lays. But the words are different then what's on my 2006 SS. I e mailed them and asked them about it. More to follow.

First I removed the insulation from the back. Then I cut the letters and lines off using a dremel. As you will see on the back, the letters and lines aren't just extra material on the cover. They are pressed in from the back. Once I removed the letters and lines, I had to fill in holes where they were. I used JB Weld type epoxy to fill in those areas. Once you get REAL close to the shape you are going for finish it off with a LITTLE bit of body filler. I had some trouble getting it to stick, so I used primer prior to the putty. After that, I used primer and started sanding all of the little bumpy texture off. After I was happy with the shape, I painted it and finished it off with the sticker.

I went to that website what has the Vinyl letters. But they only make the 5.3 L nothing for the lines. Bummer I talked to the guy. And thats all they have for the 06 & 07. But one thing still bothers me. On their site they show a Motor cover. BUT ! Their cover says "ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT". WHERE MINE SAYS "DISPLACEMENT ON DEMAND" ? Whats up with that ? Or is that on the 2007 models ? Can apyone post a picture of their 07 motor cover ? So I can see the difference.. Also am I right in thinking that they only put V 8 's in the 2006 & 7 M/C's ?? Thanks for any help on these questions. Rick
