So I just got trained/certified finally for the CNC machine at my school (im a sr/grad student) and wanted to replace the MC badge on my 01. Im thinking about a bowtie with SS inlayed inside. Does anyone know the standard dimensions of the bowtie? Or maybe just what would fit? TIA

PS if these turn out good, maybe I could sell/give some. Going to be made of 7000 series aluminum (read EXPENSIVE and good Al) so should have desirable properties.

 

Do NOT use 7075 aluminum for that. It does not have the anti-oxidation properties you need. You want 6061 instead. 7075 will be twice as strong and 10% as weather resistant.

 

Ohhhhh.... I did not know that, kinda assumed it had the same oxidation properties. Its some stock I had leftover from a project, maybe I can trade it for some 6061
